My Reason Final: Combustible Lemonade

I’m actually running to class right now to hand this in! So this will be quick! Just have a listen – it’s all original music (I think… sometimes you can accidentally steal ideas, you know?), and I programmed all the synths myself! Yay! Used some quotes from Portal 2, which is a fantastic video game if you find yourself hankering after some vidjagame. Anyway, I’ve been working on this track for a while and really can’t fix the mix any further because my ears are tired. So hopefully it goes over well! Also, thanks to my roommate Brandon for his feedback/mixing tips and also for cooking me food while I was holed up in my room working. He is an hero. Okay, here is le track! Please enjoy responsibly:

UPDATE: I did a bunch more mixing in class and a bit more afterwards, so I put a new version up that is quite a bit clearer. I decided that even though I would prefer for the music to be much louder in the mix, I should leave more headroom so that the vocals can stick out. A sad choice, but I think it’s the right one. There’s one or two more things I’d like to do, but I’m already on to the next project, so that will have to wait.

I keep coming back to this one. Definitely my fav to date – the emotional transitions from hope and determination, to anger, empathy and loss is quite tangible.

Thanks dadulator! Lots of thought went into it, so I’m glad it comes through! Grateful for the inspiration… I was chock full of it when I was writing this. Makes it easier to work at it for hours and hours, which is what good work often seems to require.

This is one of those songs that just makes you feel like crying, but you don’t know why. In a good way of course. Congratulations Chris! I think it’s rare to find music this good these days : )
